The Denver Zoo

Komodo Dragons claim their domain at the world's largest indoor Komodo Dragon habitat at the Denver Zoo. Komodo Dragons are the largest lizard in the reptile family and have made the exhibit their permanent home. Odoe, Hecktor, Koko and Castor reside in the dragon dwelling where visitors can get nose to nose with the man-eating reptiles, safely protected by inches of glass.

Komodo Dragons are opportunistic feeders, and fear nothing. Komodos have been known to hunt man and other dragons, and will dig up fresh graves on occasion. Adult Komodos are formidable predators, able to hunt and overpower wild boar, deer and even a 1,000 pound water buffalo, often devouring 80% of their body weight in one meal.

The Zoo's Primate Panorama Exhibit is a seven-acre, $14 million world-class facility with 29 different species of primates, from a 6-ounce pygmy marmoset to a 610 pound gorilla, all playing, swinging and lounging in environments that feel like natural habitats. Eleven squirrel monkeys from the exhibit were from a recently retired research troop with NASA, including Space Man, an 18 year old monkey who was the first primate to ride the space shuttle!

Rain or shine, blizzard or balmy, the Denver Zoo offers fun for every season. The Zoo is home to nearly 4,000 animals representing over 700 species. From Tropical Discovery, an indoor rainforest habitat, to the Humboldt Penguin Exhibit, the Denver Zoo has something for everyone.
