AHRC's Extraordinary Canine By Luisa Nez Joyce Schulman and Eric Cohen, founders of Rover Group, Inc., which manufactures innovative, healthful pet products, have a lot to smile about when it comes to their company's canine mascot, Kibo. This past June, Kibo, a Portuguese Water Dog, received individual recognition as "Special Canine Volunteer" from the Suffolk Chapter of the Association for the Help of Retarded Children (AHRC). Kibo makes monthly visits to the Westhampton Beach day treatment facility, doling out love and affection to individuals with developmental disabilities. United States Congressman, Michael Forbes, was one of the many in attendance at the awards ceremony supporting the AHRC along with Kibo and his commitment to animal assisted therapy. Joyce and Eric assure us that Kibo takes pleasure in what he does. Devoted and loyal to the cause, Kibo will continue to contribute his services to those who benefit from them most. This is one dog that deserves a pat on the back. |
