Wendy Diamond was born in Chagrin Falls, Ohio; studied at Pine Manor College, Boston and now resides in New York City with her children Wanda, Lucky and Pasha.
In 1999, when 12 million animals were put to sleep in shelters, Wendy Diamond launched the premier lifestyle media company for animal lovers to support endangered animal advocacy and animal rescue. Today the amount of animals put to sleep is down to 5 million and the amount spent on pets is now over 46 billion dollars annually. In the Future of Pets, Wendy Diamond will discuss that 46 billion dollar number and how it is exponentially growing this century. Diamond predicts that the pet will truly become a part of the family as more people become aware of how positive pets are for our health and lifestyle.
After adopting her rescued Russian blue cat, Pasha, along with a rescued white Maltese named Lucky, Wendy used her natural spirit, charm, and business acumen and ventured off to start an animal lifestyle magazine and website called Animal Fair (fairness to animals). In the past year Wendy added a new member to her family Wanda a sparkling red beta fish.
Animal Fair is the premier lifestyle magazine and website for animal lovers in support of fairness to animals and animal rescue. Animal Fair is dedicated to highlighting non-profit animal organizations, giving them the opportunity to tell their inspirational stories and to provide contact information so that our readers can become involved. When Animal Fair launched in 1999, 12 million animals were euthanized in shelters. This year the number has reportedly decreased to 6 million! We don’t take all the credit, but we are doing our part to help support animal rescue! Charlize Theron, Halle Berry, Renee Zellweger, and Drew Barrymore have all graced the cover with their animals.
Wendy Diamond and her dog Lucky are frequent pet contributors to the Today Show, Fox News, CNN, Good Morning America and media outlets around the world. She has appeared in and on Time Magazine, The View, New York Times, People Magazine, The New Yorker, Vogue, CNN, CBS’ Early Show, Oprah, Los Angeles Times, Dallas Morning News, Cleveland Plain Dealer, Philadelphia Enquirer, Extra, MTV, VH1, Extra, E!, New York Post, Daily News, London Times, Hello Magazine and local media outlets all over the world.
Wendy Diamond’s natural humor can be read in her two best selling books How to Understand Men Through Their Dogs and How to Understand Women Through Their Cats! Random House published Diamond’s latest entertaining albeit informative book titled It’s a Dog’s World in February 2010. She is currently finishing her business humor book How to Train your Boss to Roll over is expected to be released in 2011.
Diamond joined Internationally known speakers Mark Victor Hansen and Jack Canfield to represent, co author, and be the face of the new Chicken Soup for the Soul What I Learned from My Dog and What I Learned from My Cat books out now in stores. Chicken Soup for the Soul was first released on June 28, 1993, and by September of 1994, Chicken Soup for the Soul was on every major bestseller list in the U.S. and Canada.
Wendy and Lucky premiered in their first acting role in the independent film Goy Band and in 2008 they were judges on CBS hit show Greatest American Dog. In Search Of Puppy Love – Wendy’s first docucomedy will be released in the Summer of 2010 . The film is based on their Yappy Hour rescue tour that raised over $200,000 for animal rescue. They are currently filming “It’s Not You” with “3 Men and a Baby” star Steve Guttenberg and American Pie’s lovely Shannon Elizabeth.
Wendy Diamond currently serves on the Advisory Boards of the Millennium Development Goal Achievers and World Entrepreneurship Day as Chief Pet Officer. She has been most recently active as a speaker at the United Nations on April 14th 2010.
On Saturday, July 12th, Wendy gave a talk at the H+ summit at Harvard University, hosted by the Harvard College Future Society in conjunction with Humanity+. Diamond’s talk examined the future of pets and the pet industry, concluding that Puppy Love will be the the panacea of progress.
Now, Wendy looks toward the future of the planet’s animals and commits herself to the continued push for fairness towards animals and the preservation of the diversity that characterizes the earth.
