We all know that famous people
live well, but what about their pets? Students at the Fashion Institute of Technology (F.I.T.) in Manhattan were asked to speculate about the residential roosts of top celebrities' four-legged friends and design a home fit for the companions to the stars. Each student selected a well-known personality, assigned a pet (either a cat or a dog) to their pick, and designed a house for the furry friend of the famous figure. The final result reflected the work and personality of the owner. According to Andrew Moszynski, assistant professor of the Interior Design program at F.I.T., the project was, "a mini-version of a situation that interior designers face; there is a user, the client, and certain requests to be met as to color, size, and habits." The finished projects ranged from a pink and white plaid-trimmed house with gold braiding for the imagined shih tzu of designer Coco Chanel to a giant Chinese food container shaped residence built for artist Claes Oldenberg's pug. |
